3D Printed Custom Orthotics in Dublin

A custom orthotic is a prescription device, not a cushioned insole. Ours are Phits 3D-printed devices designed from the dynamic pressure data captured during your gait analysis, so the correction is built around how your foot actually loads rather than a foam impression of its shape. Selective stiffness lets a single device be supportive where you need control and flexible where you need movement.

3D Custom Orthotics clinical care at Foot Focus Podiatry Dublin

Who is this for? Patients whose gait analysis has identified a mechanical driver of pain, those with plantar fasciitis or Achilles pain that keeps returning, patients with flat feet or high arches causing fatigue, and anyone who has not had lasting relief from off-the-shelf insoles.

What are the benefits of 3D custom orthotics?

  • Built from your own dataDesigned from your dynamic pressure and gait capture, not a static mould of your foot.
  • Selective stiffness3D printing allows different zones of the same device to flex or support independently.
  • Fits real footwearLow-profile options that go into work shoes and running shoes, not just trainers.
  • Durable and reviewableFitted, then reviewed so the prescription can be adjusted as your symptoms and loading change.

How Foot Focus is different with orthotics

  1. An in-depth assessmentWe find out how your foot and ankle move, and take baseline strength measurements.
  2. Exercise and rehab firstWe prescribe exercise and rehab before any orthotic, to make your foot and ankle as strong and robust as possible, so you're not reliant on an orthotic.
  3. An orthotic, if you need oneAfter a period of time, we introduce an orthotic if it's needed. Ours are Phits 3D-printed from your Footscan® pressure data.
  4. Fitting in clinicWe fit it in the clinic, with instructions on wearing it in and footwear advice.
  5. ReviewA follow-up appointment to check it's doing what it should, and adjust it if not.

Orthotics are rarely handed out on their own. Our philosophy is to make your foot and ankle as strong as possible first, through exercise and rehab, and orthotics are part of a treatment programme.

What patients say about our 3D custom orthotics

Norman Burns

I'm in my late 70's and over the years I have had many people look at my feet. I got some good experiences but became somewhat disillusioned because of the sales focus to replace the Orthotics in my shoes, and also suggestions to buy new ones. Brian gave me genuine clarity on my condition without pressure to buy unnecessary products, and the treatment brought immense relief.

Frequently asked questions about 3D custom orthotics

How long do custom orthotics take to arrive?

Following your assessment and gait scan, Phits 3D-printed orthotics are typically ready within two to three weeks. We contact you when they arrive to arrange a fitting appointment.

How are these different from insoles I can buy in a pharmacy?

A pharmacy insole is one generic shape in a few sizes, designed to cushion. A custom orthotic is manufactured to a clinician's prescription from measurements of your own gait, and is designed to change how load moves through your foot.

Will I have to wear them forever?

Not always. For some patients orthotics are a long-term device; for others they are used to offload tissue while strength and loading work addresses the underlying cause. Your podiatrist will tell you which applies to you.
