What patients say about our chiropody

Andy Murray

I recently visited Foot Focus in Finglas with a foot problem that was causing me severe discomfort for some time. This was my first visit to them and I was treated by a fantastic chiropodist named Rebecca. After working on my foot, the relief was immediate. Very professional and thorough.

Frequently asked questions about chiropody

How much does chiropody cost?

A general chiropody appointment is €80 and lasts 30 minutes. It covers treatment of skin and nail problems, including ingrown toenails, corns and calluses. If your health insurance covers podiatry, you can usually claim it back, and we'll give you a receipt.

What's the difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist?

In Ireland there's no difference in who can treat you. Podiatrist and chiropodist are both protected titles for the same CORU-registered profession, and podiatrist is the more modern name. Our podiatrists do everything a chiropodist does.

How often should I come for chiropody?

Most patients come every 8 to 12 weeks, though it depends on your feet and any underlying conditions. We'll suggest a review interval at your appointment.

Do you look after diabetic feet?

Yes. If you have diabetes, regular foot care and checks matter, because small problems can become serious quickly. Tell us when you book, and see our diabetic foot care page for what a check involves.

Can I book for my mum or dad?

Yes. You can book online or by phone on their behalf. Let us know if they find stairs difficult: our Mount Merrion clinic has a lift, while the Finglas clinic is upstairs.

Do I need to do anything before my appointment?

Wash your feet and wear or bring the shoes you wear most often, so we can look at your footwear as part of the appointment.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly with either clinic, online or by phone, and you'll be seen by a CORU-registered podiatrist.
